Occupation? Senior Art Director, IBM

Where do you live now? Vancouver, BC

Children? One son: Charlie. Born March 22, 2006, so it’s all still new and lots of fun.

When and where are you the happiest? A lazy day without interruption, deadlines, phone calls, chores, or errands where I can just hang out with the family and be silly.

What was your favorite journey? Honeymooning on Anguilla was pretty amazing and briefly living and working in New York in the mid-90’s was a pretty special time.

What are your interests? Still love playing and listening to music, turning our old tear-down in Dunbar into a home, hanging out with family and friends, travel, a good meal out, and running to burn off that good meal.

What is your fondest memory of Hillside? Never getting beaten up or stuffed in a locker, despite what my grade 7 teacher practically "guaranteed". Grades 11 & 12 were pretty fun, trying to find the parties on a Saturday day night before there were cell phones, playing the first Hillstock with Sleepy Boy Floyd, and of course, all of the different characters I got to meet in 5 years there.

What is your favorite music, past/present? In high school I seemed to be into anything British: The Who, The Police, The English Beat & The Smiths. Nowadays I’m listening to all kinds of things, but get excited about finding lesser-known new music. The Internet's been amazing for this.

What do you consider your greatest achievement(s)? Acknowledging quickly after Hillside that I wasn’t going to be a rock star and getting a university degree. Surviving an intense year at the Vancouver Film School and turning it into a career that still lets me be creative. Still being able to be a pretend "rock star" (Achin’ Blues Balls Band, Gavin Froome) despite being married and having children. And of course, getting married and having children.

Your last 20 years in 20 words or less: Year off, UVic, house painter, Vancouver Film School, New York, dot-com/ dot-bomb, IBM, marriage, house, baby. Gosh.

1987 Yearbook Quote: "Bri" will be remembered for his incredible talent as the keyboard player for Sleepy Boy Floyd. His most embarrassing moment was finding out he had a fan club in Sechelt. His best memories were on a certain basketball trip to Penticton. Brian's pet peeves are dogs without a leash and cordless razors. His future plans are to take a year off and then attend UBC.
